Amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases, the Andhra Pradesh Government has imposed a curfew with lockdown-like restrictions. The worst affected by these measures are daily wage laborers, including construction workers, shop employees, factory workers, hotel staff, street vendors, agricultural laborers, auto drivers, and rickshaw pullers. Due to financial constraints, they are unable to purchase essential commodities like rice, lentils, and hygiene items.
In response, during July 2021, we have selected 100 impoverished families in Upprapalle Harijanawada, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India, to receive emergency relief. Thanks to a generous donation from Indien-Nothilfe e.V., Germany, we provided these families with essential commodities, including rice, lentils, cooking oil, dry coconut, tamarind, sugar, salt, onions, vegetables, masks, soaps, and sanitizers.
Additionally, we conducted an awareness program on COVID-19 prevention, educating the community on safety measures to curb the spread of the virus. .
